Take care of your mental health

We’re advocates for Mental Health, promoting and supporting Positive Mental Health in order to reduce the stigma, by replacing common myths with facts. Mental Health is defined by The World Health Organisation as ‘a state of wellbeing in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community’.

There is a common misconception that when one says “Mental Health, we assume they’re talking about Mental Illness”. However, mental illness includes a range of conditions/ disorders for which there are standard criteria used to diagnose them, which significantly interface with an individual’s cognitive, emotional or social abilities such as depression, anxiety and substance use disorders. Mental illness significantly affects how a person feels, thinks, behaves and interacts with other people. It is what happens when your Mental Health is not okay.

Our Mental Health can be affected by different things such as unemployment or loss of business, grief and loss, domestic and family violence, sleeping problems, difficult life events, alcohol and drugs. We therefore greatly encourage you to take care of yourself and your mental health but also seek help if the need arises. With our specialisations being in both Human Resource Management and Psychology, we look at being mentally healthy as a priority.

We believe that in order for you to grow and meet your career and life goals, you need to be mentally healthy. Therefore, you need to take care of your mental health as much as you take care of your physical health, as you chase and realise your dreams.
